GUIDANCE & COUNSELING
Counselor's Message

Counselor -Ann Cupp
One of my roles at Hatton is to conduct classroom guidance lessons. Your child will be learning skills on how to be a proficient student with good character. I explain to the students that we are not born knowing how to be a good student; rather, it is a skill that must be learned and built upon each year. My job is to prepare your child to reach his or her full potential while attending Hatton Elementary.
Character education is not about obedience; it teaches young people to make competent decisions. Each six weeks we will have lessons and activities on a new character trait. Vocabulary words, in relation to each trait, are taught with the general education curriculum as a reinforcer.
You will receive notes from me about each character trait detailing how you can reward good choices, consider alternative behaviors, and do the right thing. Our campus also participates in activities throughout the year that contribute to developing good character traits.
