  • As a professional (teacher, administrator, counselor, diagnostician, etc.) that is under contract, when can I resign?

Under Texas Education Agency Administrative Chapter 21 code, you can resign 45 days prior to the first day of instruction for the upcoming school year without question. After this period, you can offer a resignation, but it must be approved by your Principal and the Superintendent.  You will be subject to sanctions if your resignation is not accepted and you do not honor your contract.

As a paraprofessional, auxiliary or technical employee when can I resign?

Since you are not under contract, you can resign at any time. It is customary to offer a two weeks notice to your supervisor prior to leaving your job.

    How do I resign?

An employee would author a signed letter of resignation to the Superintendent and submit it to their Organizational Manager.

How will I receive my final pay check?

You will receive your final paycheck in the same manner that you have been receiving them in the past.

    What happens after I resign?

You will receive a confirmation that your resignation has been accepted with the effective date.

  • The Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) is a program established by the Texas Legislature (House Bill 3) to recognize and reward the state’s highest-performing educators. Its primary goal is to provide a pathway for effective teachers to earn significantly higher salaries—up to six figures—without leaving the classroom for administrative roles.

Teachers must meet established criteria and earn their designation through our TEA-approved system.
Potential annual allotments in our district include:
    Recognized: up to $3,500
    Exemplary: up to $7,000
    Master: up to $13,500

  • Workers' Compensation is a State-Regulated Insurance Program that:

    • Pays reasonable medical costs if you are injured on the job
    • May pay income benefits to replace part of the wages you lose because of an on-the-job injury
    • Pays income benefits if you have a permanent impairment from an on-the-job injury and
    • Pays death benefits to your legal beneficiaries if you are killed on the job

This program works in tandem with Bridge City Independent School District’s commitment to the health and safety of all employees in the workplace.  Preventing work-related illness and injury is our primary goal. Additionally, we want to ensure the employee receives prompt, appropriate medical treatment aimed at an early and safe return to work.

If applicable, our early return to work program provides opportunities for an employee who is injured on the job to return to work at full duty. If the injured worker is not physically capable of returning to work at full duty, the program provides opportunities to perform his or her regular job with modifications or, when available, to perform alternate temporary work that meets the injured workers physical capabilities.
