Limited Open Enrollment – Protecting Our Future, Maintaining Excellence
Bridge City ISD is proud to offer limited open enrollment for families who wish to become part of our district’s tradition of excellence. This opportunity allows a small number of non-resident students to transfer into BCISD while preserving the high expectations, culture, and resources our community values.
This is not open enrollment without limits. We carefully set requirements to ensure all students meet the same standards as those expected of our current Cardinals.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for transfer consideration, students must:
-
Have no discipline issues from the previous school year
-
Maintain an attendance rate of 90% or better in the previous school year
-
Pass all state assessments in the previous school year
-
Meet all other requirements outlined in the BCISD Non-Resident Transfer Application
Transfers are only considered if space is available in the requested grade level.
👉 Overcrowded grade levels will not be eligible.
Important Notes
-
BCISD does not provide transportation for out-of-district transfer students.
-
Transfers are conditional and may be revoked if a student fails to meet academic, attendance, or behavior expectations.
-
Initial applications are due July 1st; renewal applications are due June 1st.
Why Limited Open Enrollment?
Following new state legislation, public education in Texas is changing. Bridge City ISD is taking a measured, strategic approach to ensure we:
-
Protect district resources
-
Maintain strong academic and behavioral expectations
-
Keep class sizes manageable
-
Preserve the culture and community values that make BCISD strong
While other districts in Orange County have already moved to open enrollment, BCISD is implementing this option in a limited, carefully controlled way — likely around 10 students districtwide.
How to Apply
-
Complete the Non-Resident Student Transfer Application.
-
Submit by July 1st for new applications or June 1st for renewals.
-
Applications will be reviewed based on eligibility and space availability.
-
Families will be notified of acceptance or denial.
Become a Cardinal
We are excited about the possibility of your family joining our positive, high-achieving community. While space is limited, we welcome students who are ready to uphold the standards that make Bridge City ISD a district of choice.
